A well-established downtown San Diego law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support its Commercial Real Estate Finance practice. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, transactional environment and has hands-on experience closing commercial loan transactions.
About the Role
The Legal Assistant will play a critical role in supporting high-volume commercial real estate finance matters. The position involves drafting and preparing loan documents, coordinating closely with escrow companies, and managing multiple transactions from start to finish. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with attorneys and external parties, including banks, life insurance companies, and other commercial lenders, to ensure smooth and timely closings.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, prepare, and assist with closing commercial loan documents
- Coordinate transactions between the firm, escrow companies, borrowers, and lenders
- Manage deal flow for multiple commercial real estate finance matters simultaneously
- Track deadlines, closing requirements, and transaction milestones
- Communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, escrow officers, and third parties
- Maintain organized and accurate transaction files in a high-volume environment
Top Three Qualifications
- Comfortable generating and closing commercial loan documents
- Proven experience coordinating between law firms and escrow companies
- Strong multi-tasker able to manage multiple projects and transaction facets concurrently
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial real estate finance or transactional law
- Direct experience working with banks, life insurance companies, or commercial lenders
- Strong background in loan documentation and escrow coordination
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to handle complex, high-volume transactions efficiently
- Residential real estate experience alone will not be considered

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 (DOE)
